HOW LACK OF SLEEP TRIGGERS NEGATIVE MOODS AND MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES

According to Oxford Learners Dictionary, Sleep is referred to as a condition of body and mind that typically recurs for several hours every night in which the eyes are closed, the postured muscles relaxed, the activity of the brain altered, and the consciousness of the surroundings practically suspended.

When we don’t get sufficient sleep, the tendency is that we are likely to run into a situation of mood swings which will in turn affect our emotions and mental stability as well as overall mental health.

Sleep deprivation or lack of sleep can affect our judgement, affect our work performance, mood and safety amongst others. Mood Swing is triggered. The Mood swing brings about change in our mood or emotional state. Indeed, Lack of Sleep can hinder one from thinking clearly and stabilizing emotions. When this happens, emotions are pressured, and this helps to compel poor decisions and faulty judgement of events around us and probably navigate to negative options which affects our relationship and the developmental strides. Good Sleep improves learning, memory and insight.

It is advisable we prioritize issues around our mental health and emotions by separating our work and rest space. Take enough rest with good sleep to stabilize emotions and improve the state of our cognitive and affective abilities. We are all enjoined to treasure our mental health.
