“Don't Allow Your Emotions to Cause Commotion for You”.... Rangers Intl. FC Foundation Chairman tells children and young persons
The Chairman of Rangers International Football Club Foundation, Ebere Amaraizu has re-emphasized the need for people to always know the state of their emotions with a view to managing them to avoid causing mental health issues or leading them to societal misconduct like violence, substance and drug use and addiction, violent behaviours and suicide, crime, amongst others. Amaraizu made this known in an engagement with school children at Swiss Kids academy Trans-Ekulu Enugu on 27/6/2024 organised by Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation in partnership with the school, Rangers International Football Club Foundation, CAPIO Ng, ASTRIC and INECAS to equip children and young persons with relevant knowledge and understanding of what could cause negative emotions like fear, anxiety, panic, mood swings, anger and the danger of those emotions to mental health and the larger society.
Speaking during the event, Mrs Uzoamaka Nwachukwu, Co-founder of Cope and Live Mental health Awareness Foundation maintained that fear, anxiety, anger and other negative emotions adversely affect our mental health and advised children and young persons to always try to identify their causes and how they can be managed.
The Executive Director Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation, Reverend Chukwudiebube Nwachukwu thanked the school for the opportunity to interact and to give the life changing message and activities to the children and urged them not to toe the line of negativity. He maintained that Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation Resource Centre Enugu will always be ready to present problem solving resources that will help to address issues around management of emotions and mental health for a greater society.
The proprietress of Swiss Kids academy Trans-Ekulu Mrs Eberechukwu Ike-Ugwu thanked Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation, Rangers Intl. FC Foundation, CAPIO, ASTRIC and other partners at the event and maintained that proper management of one’s mental health and emotions is key to better health and commended Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation for the giant stride to improve on the fortune of the society through mental health education for general well-being.
The Engagement featured group activities where students were asked to identify their emotions and match them with the mental state of their minds as well as expository to positive coping and emotion management skills. There was also multi sports activities in which children were exposed to football, table tennis, taekwondo, amongst others. It could be recalled that Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation has championed multi sports activities as a way of exposing children and young persons to many dimensions of sports because of its use also to stabilize emotions as well as cognitive, affective and psychomotor abilities.
