FOUNDATION ADVISES ON NEGATIVE EMOTIONS, SHOW OF LOVE AND COMPASSION ON 2024 INTERNATIONAL DRUG DAY

As the commemorations of  2024 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking takes centre stage today 26/6/2024 and with its theme as "The Evidence is Clear ; Invest in Prevention, a  Non-Governmental Organisation known as Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation(COLIMHAF) specialised in sensitising and educating members of the public on dangers of negative emotions to human health and the entire society, mental health, resilient mindset with positive coping skills, has joined the rest of the world and other well meaning  bodies to commemorate the special day with call that the achievement of substance and drug free society  remains a collective and shared responsibility  with  multi disciplinary and multi sectoral approaches and with strong coalitions.

The Executive Director Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation, Reverend Chukwudiebube Nwachukwu disclosed this at the Cope and Live Mental Health Awareness Foundation Resource Centre at Independent Layout Enugu on 26/6/2024 while reacting on the essence and importance of the year 2024 event. According to him, Substance and Drug abuse as well as addictiction  have become a significant threat to global health and social well being  as well as triggering factors or pathways to serious and organized crime (SOC) with particular emphasis on involvement into crime, substance and drug abuse, Untimely death, suicide, violent behavious amongst others.

The Executive Director maintained that all hands must have to be on deck towards resolving the issues on Substance and Drug abuse as well as showing of love, sympathy and kindness to those already involved while making sincere efforts towards deepening community awareness and engagement for a greater society. He further highlighted that prevention is all about awareness and community based approaches to discourage drug use and recommended a preventive step in form of helping young minds to resist peer pressure, to abstain from Substance and Drug abuse/addiction, learning of good coping skills as well as seeking of professional help as well as counselling services which the Foundation offers.
